He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And hath fear, 9 you ignore him. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olives and palms 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
