He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And hath fear, 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olives and palms 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
