The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
