۞ To Abraham We gave the right guidance and We knew him very well. 51 When he said to his father and his people: "What are these images, to which you are devoted?" 52 They replied: 'We found our fathers worshipping them' 53 He said, "You were certainly, you and your fathers, in manifest error." 54 They said: "Are you speaking in earnest, or only jesting?" 55 'No' he answered, 'your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the Originator of them, and I am among those bearing witness to it. 56 And [he added to himself.] "By God, I shall most certainly bring about the downfall of your idols as soon as you have turned your backs and gone away!" 57 So he broke them to pieces, (all) except the biggest of them, that they might turn to it. 58 They said, “Who has done this to our Gods? He is indeed cruel!” 59 They said, "We heard a youth talk of them: He is called Abraham." 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people that they may testify." 61 They said: art thou the one who hath wrought this unto our gods, O Ibrahim? 62 He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak." 63 Then they turned to one another and said, "It is you yourselves who are in the wrong," 64 And they were utterly confounded, and they said: Well thou knowest that these speak not. 65 He said: What! do you then serve besides Allah what brings you not any benefit at all, nor does it harm you? 66 “Disgrace be upon you and all the idols whom you worship instead of Allah; so do you not have sense?” 67 They said: "Burn him and help your aliha (gods), if you will be doing." 68 Allah said, "O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham." 69 And they desired a war on him, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 And We rescued him and Lut towards the land which We have blessed for the entire world. 71 We granted him Isaac and Jacob as a gift and helped both of them to become righteous people. 72 And We made them chiefs who guide by Our command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds and the right establishment of worship and the giving of alms, and they were worshippers of Us (alone). 73 And Lot -- to him We gave judgment and knowledge; and we delivered him from the city that had been doing deeds of corruption; they were an evil people, truly ungodly; 74 Thus We admitted him to Our grace. He is surely one of the righteous. 75
