The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Prosperous are the believers 1 those who humble themselves in their prayer, 2 and who turn away from all that is frivolous, 3 those who pay the zakat; 4 And those who guard their chastity (i.e. private parts, from illegal sexual acts) 5 Except from their wives and women slaves of old are free of blame, 6 But those who covet more than this will be transgressors; 7 (Prosperous are those) who preserve their trusts and pledges 8 And they who carefully maintain their prayers - 9 These will be the heirs, 10 Those who will get the inheritance of Paradise; they will abide in it forever. 11 We created man of an extraction of clay, 12 then We made him, a drop, in a secure receptacle (the womb). 13 The living germ, then, was turned into a shapeless lump of flesh from which bones were formed. The bones, then, were covered with flesh. At this stage, We caused it to become another creature. All blessings belong to God, the best Creator. 14 Thereafter you will certainly die 15 Then you will be raised up again on the Resurrection Day. 16 And certainly We made above you seven heavens; and never are We heedless of creation. 17 We send down water from the sky in determined measure, and store it up in the earth; and We have power to drain it away. 18 And by means of this [water] We bring forth for you gardens of date-palms and vines, wherein you have fruit abundant and whereof you eat, 19 And a tree that grows out of Mount Sinai which produces oil and a condiment for those who eat. 20 And indeed, for you in livestock is a lesson. We give you drink from that which is in their bellies, and for you in them are numerous benefits, and from them you eat. 21 and you ride on them as you do in ships. 22
