Messengers! Eat of that which is good and do good deeds; I have knowledge of the things you do. 51 “And indeed this religion of yours is one religion only and I am your Lord, therefore fear Me.” 52 But then they divided up their order into different creeds, each section rejoicing in what it had come to have. 53 So leave thou them in their perplexity for a time. 54 Do they think that in giving them wealth and children 55 have no other purpose except to help them in acquiring material benefits? No indeed. But they do not understand. 56 Verily those who live in awe for fear of their Lord; 57 and believe in His messages 58 and do not ascribe partners to Him; 59 who give, whatever they give in charity, with their hearts trembling at the thought that they are destined to return to their Lord; 60 These hasten to good things and they are foremost in (attaining) them. 61 We charge not any soul save to its capacity, and with Us is a Book speaking truth, and they shall not be wronged. 62 On the contrary, their hearts are in neglect of this and their works are different than those of the believers, the works that they are doing. 63 Until when We lay hold of the luxuriant ones of them with the torment, and lo! then they are imploring! 64 [But they will be told] "Cry not in supplication today; for, behold, you shall not be succoured by Us! 65 My revelations were recited unto you, but ye used to turn back on your heels, 66 Insolently, treating them like tales told at night." 67 Should they not think upon the saying? Or, did anything come upon them that had not come upon their ancient forefathers? 68 Or, is it that they recognised not their apostle, and so of him they become deniers? 69 Do they say he is possessed? Rather he has brought them the truth, but most of them are averse to the truth. 70 Had the truth followed their desires, the heavens and the earth and all that is in them would have been destroyed. We sent them the Quran but they ignored it. 71 Or is it that thou askest them for some recompense? But the recompense of thy Lord is best: He is the Best of those who give sustenance. 72 But verily thou callest them to the Straight Way; 73 And lo! those who believe not in the Hereafter are indeed astray from the path. 74 ۞ And if We show mercy to them and remove the distress they have, they would persist in their inordinacy, blindly wandering on. 75 We had seized them with the punishment, but they did not bow before their Lord nor turned to Him in humility, 76 Until when We shall open upon them a portal of severe torment, and lo! thereat they are desparing. 77
