(Pharaoh) said to the Chiefs around him: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed: 34 Who wants to drive you out of your land by his sorcery. Now what do you advise?" 35 They replied: 'Put him and his brother off for a while, and send heralds to your cities 36 Who shall bring unto thee every knowing wizard. 37 So the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a well-known day. 38 And the people were told: "Are ye (now) assembled?- 39 in order that we shall follow the sorcerers if they are the victors' 40 Now when the sorcerers came, they said unto Pharaoh: "Verily, we ought to have a great reward if it is we who prevail. 41 He replied, "You will then be my closest associates". 42 Moses said to them: 'Cast down what you cast' 43 So they cast their ropes and their staffs, and said, 'By the might of Pharaoh we shall be the victors.' 44 Therefore Moosa put forth his staff – so it immediately began swallowing all their fabrications. 45 The magicians therefore fell down prostrate. 46 Crying: We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 47 the Lord of Moses and Aaron' 48 He (Pharaoh) said: 'You have believed him before I have given you permission. He is the chief of you who has taught you sorcery. But you shall know. I will surely cut off on opposite sides a hand and a foot, and crucify you all.' 49 They said, “No harm (in it), we will return to our Lord.” 50 Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers." 51
