(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 I am for you an honest Messenger. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 and erect castles hoping that you will live forever. 129 And when you lay hands (on men) you lay hands (like) tyrants; 130 Rather keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 131 and fear Him who has succoured you with what you know, 132 He has given you cattle, children, 133 And gardens and springs. 134 Lo! I fear for you the retribution of an awful day. 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 this is nothing but the habit of the ancients, 137 "And we are not going to be punished." 138 So they belied him, so We destroyed them. Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 139 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 140
