Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 It has been revealed through the trustworthy Spirit 193 Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners - 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 Surely, it is foretold in the ancient scriptures. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that [so many] learned men from among the children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 Had We revealed it to a man of obscure tongue 198 And he had recited it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it to enter into the hearts of the guilty. 200 They will not believe in it until they clearly see the grievous chastisement. 201 It will come upon them suddenly when they are not expecting it. 202 And they will say, "May we be reprieved?" 203 Would they (now) hasten on Our doom? 204 What do you see? If We gave them enjoyment for years, 205 and then the chastisement of which they were being warned were to come upon them, 206 They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided. 207 And withal, never have We destroyed any community unless it had been warned 208 As a reminder; and never have We been unjust. 209 And [this divine writ is such a reminder:] no evil spirits have brought it down: 210 They are not worthy of it, nor have they power. 211 indeed they are debarred from overhearing it. 212 So do not call on any deity besides God, lest you incur His punishment. 213 And warn thy tribe of near kindred, 214 and be meek to the believers who follow you. 215 Then if they disobey you say to them: "I am quit of what you do." 216 And put your trust in Him Who is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate, 217 Who sees you when you arise 218 and sees your movements among those who prostrate themselves: 219 Surely, He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Should I tell you to whom the satans come? 221 They descend upon every lying, sinful one, 222 They listen, but most of them are liars. 223 And as for the poets [they, too, are prone to deceive themselves: and so, only] those who are lost in grievous error would follow them. 224 Have you not seen how they wander in every valley, 225 preaching what they do not practice. 226 Except those who believed and did good deeds, and profusely remembered Allah, and took revenge after they had been wronged*; and soon the unjust will come to know upon which side they will be overturned**. (* The Muslim poets who praise Allah and the Prophet. ** The disbelievers will be punished.) 227
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
