Truly it is the revelation of the Lord of all Being, 192 brought down by the Faithful Spirit 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayst be (one) of the warners, 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 Truly, it is in the Books of the ancients. 196 Was it not a sign for them known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 And had We sent it down upon a person other than an Arab, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are not aware, 202 and then they will say: 'Shall we be respited' 203 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 204 What thinkest thou? If We give them enjoyment of days for many years, 205 and then what they were promised comes to them, 206 what will it then avail them, the enjoyment of days they were given? 207 And We destroyed no township but it had its warners 208 By way of reminder; and We never are unjust. 209 The satans have not revealed the Quran; 210 And it behoves them not, and they have not the power to do (it). 211 Indeed they are debarred from even hearing it. 212 So invoke not with Allah another ilah (god) lest you be among those who receive punishment. 213 And warn thy tribe of near kindred, 214 And lower thou thy wing unto those who follow thee as believers. 215 Then if they disobey thee, say: "I am free (of responsibility) for what ye do!" 216 And put thy trust in the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 Who observes you when you rise (to pray) 218 And (seeth) thine abasement among those who fall prostrate (in worship). 219 He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you, (O people!), on whom it is that the evil ones descend? 221 They descend on every sinful, false one. 222 They listen eagerly, but most of them are liars. 223 Only the erring people follow the poets. 224 Have you not seen them wandering and bewildered in every valley 225 and how they say that which they do not? 226 except those who believed and acted righteously and remembered Allah much, and when they themselves were subjected to wrong, they exacted retribution no more than to the extent of the wrong? Soon will the wrong-doers know the end that they shall reach. 227
