The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 and to whose life I gave so wide a scope: 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 Blackening the skins. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. 31
