The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the Great News 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
