Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ha, Meem. 1 A revelation from the most benevolent, ever-merciful, 2 a divine writ, the messages whereof have been clearly spelled out as a discourse in the Arabic tongue for people of [innate] knowledge, 3 Good tidings and a warning. But most of them turn away so that they hear not. 4 And they say, “Our hearts are covered against the affair you call us to, and there is deafness in our ears, and there is a barrier between us and you – therefore mind your own business, we are minding ours.” 5 Say thou, [O Prophet:] "I am but a mortal like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is the One God: go, then, straight towards Him and seek His forgiveness!" And woe unto those who ascribe divinity to aught beside Him, 6 who pay not the alms, and disbelieve in the world to come. 7 For those who believe and work deeds of righteousness is a reward that will never fail. 8
