۞ When [Jesus] the son of Mary is held up as an example, your people raise an outcry on this, 57 And say: Are our gods better, or is he? They raise not the objection save for argument. Nay! but they are a contentious folk. 58 He was no more than a servant: We granted Our favour to him, and We made him an example to the Children of Israel. 59 Had We wanted, We could have made the angels as your successors on the earth. 60 And verily he is a sign of the Hour wherefore dubitate not thereof, and follow Me: this is the straight path. 61 And let not the Satan hinder you; verily he is unto you an enemy manifest. 62 And when Jesus came with the clear signs he said, 'I have come to you with wisdom, and that I may make clear to you some of that whereon you are at variance; so fear you God and obey you me. 63 Surely Allah is my Lord and your Lord, therefore serve Him; this is the right path: 64 But the parties among them fell into variance; so woe unto those who did evil, because of the chastisement of a painful day. 65 Do they only wait for the Hour - that it should come on them all of a sudden, while they perceive not? 66 All intimate friends on that day will become each others enemies except for the pious, 67
