Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the swift scatterers 1 by the clouds which are heavily loaded with water, 2 and the smooth runners 3 and the partitioners, 4 that what you are promised is certainly true 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 CONSIDER the firmament full of starry paths! 7 Indeed, you are in differing speech. 8 From which only he turns who is turned away. 9 Accursed be the conjecturers 10 Who are careless in an abyss! 11 They ask: When is the Day of Judgment? 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (i.e. burnt) over the Fire! 13 "Taste your trial. This is what you sought to hasten." 14 Lo! those who keep from evil will dwell amid gardens and watersprings, 15 joyously receiving what their Lord will have granted them. Verily they did good works before (the coming of this Day): 16 Little of the night they were wont to slumber. 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 and [would assign] in all that they possessed a due share unto such as might ask [for help] and such as might suffer privation. 19 On the earth, and in yourselves, 20 And within yourselves. Can you not perceive? 21 And in heaven is your provision and also what you are being promised. 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth it is sure, even as it is a fact that ye are speaking. 23
