Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), enlighten, for by the munificence of your Lord, you are neither a soothsayer nor a madman. 29 Do they say, "He is only a poet and we are waiting to see him die!?" 30 Say: 'Wait if you will; I shall be waiting with you' 31 Is it their minds that bid them [to take] this [attitude] - or are they [simply] people filled with overweening arrogance? 32 Or do they say: "He himself has composed this [message]"? Nay, but they are not willing to believe! 33 So let them bring a single discourse like it, if they are truthful. 34 [Or do they deny the existence of God?] Have they themselves been created without anything [that might have caused their creation]? or were they, perchance, their own creators? 35 Or have they created the heavens and the earth? In fact they are certain of nothing. 36 Or are the Treasures of thy Lord with them, or are they the managers (of affairs)? 37 Or have they a stairway [into the heaven] upon which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear authority. 38 Has (God) daughters and they sons? 39 Or do you ask them for a reward, so that they are overburdened by a debt? 40 Or, is the Unseen in their keeping, so they are writing it down? 41 Or seek they to ensnare (the messenger)? But those who disbelieve, they are the ensnared! 42 Or, do they have a god, other than Allah? Exaltations to Allah above that which they associate! 43 If they should see a part of the heavens falling down, they would say, "A mass of clouds," 44 so leave them alone till they face the Day on which they will be struck dumb, 45 The day on which their struggle shall not avail them aught, nor shall they be helped. 46 For the harmdoers there is indeed, a punishment before that, but most of them do not know. 47 And be patient under the Judgement of your Lord, surely, you are before Our Eyes. And exalt with the praise of your Lord when you arise, 48 and extol His glory at night, and at the time when the stars retreat. 49
