Seest thou one who turns back, 33 And gives a little and (then) withholds. 34 Hath he knowledge of the Unseen so that he seeth? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 and about Abraham who fulfilled his duty (to God)? 37 Namely, that no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another; 38 And that man can have nothing but what he does (good or bad). 39 That his endeavours will be judged, 40 and that he shall then be fully recompensed, 41 that all things in the end shall return to God; 42 And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep, 43 And that He it is Who causes death and gives life- 44 And that He createth the two spouses, the male and the female, 45 From seed when it is emitted. 46 And that on Him is the bringing forth a second time; 47 and that it is He alone who frees from want and causes to possess; 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 And that it is He (Allah) Who destroyed the former 'Ad (people), 50 And Samood, so He spared not 51 and that He it is Who destroyed the people of Noah before for they were much given to iniquity and transgression. 52 And He destroyed the overthrown cities [of Sodom to which Prophet Lout (Lot) was sent]. 53 So they were covered with whatever covered them? 54 So, which of your Lord's bounties will you doubt?” 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 The near event draws nigh. 57 There is no one to unveil it apart from God. 58 Do ye then wonder at this recital? 59 And laugh and not weep, 60 Indulging in pleasantries? 61 Therefore prostrate for Allah, and worship Him.
