The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
THE LAST HOUR draws near, and the moon is split asunder! 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 And they denied and followed their own desires, whereas each matter has been decided! 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 Containing consummate wisdom; yet warnings were of no avail. 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 they will come out of their graves, their eyes cast down, hastening towards their Summoner as locusts rushing about. 7 They will hasten forward to the caller, gazes fixed. And the unbelievers will say: "This is the day of untold woe." 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 We therefore opened the gates of heaven, with water flowing furiously. 11 We caused the earth to burst forth with springs so that the waters could come together for a predestined purpose. 12 And We bare him on a thing of planks and nails. 13 floated on under Our eyes: a vindication of him who had been rejected. 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 How terrible then was My punishment and My warning. 16 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22
