The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Merciful One 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 He created man 3 and has taught him articulate speech. 4 The sun and the moon move according to a fixed reckoning; 5 And the herbs and the trees do prostrate (to Him). 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 That you not transgress within the balance. 8 weigh, therefore, [your deeds] with equity, and cut not the measure short! 9 And the earth! He hath lain it out for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruit and palm-trees sheathed. 11 Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? 18 He unleashed the two seas so that they merge together, 19 Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress. 20 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
