Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 When they came to him saying, "Peace be with you," he replied to their greeting in the same manner and said to himself, "These are a strange people". 25 He went quietly to his wife and returned to his guests with a fat, roasted calf. 26 And he set it before them, saying: Will ye not eat? 27 He began to feel afraid. They said, "Do not be afraid," and then gave him the glad news of the birth of a knowledgeable son. 28 Thereupon his wife approached [the guests] with a loud cry, and struck her face [in astonishment] and exclaimed: "A barren old woman [like me]!" 29 They said: "Even so says your Lord. Verily, He is the All-Wise, the All-Knower." 30 ۞ Said Ibrahim, “What is your task, O the sent angels?” 31 They said: Surely we are sent to a guilty people, 32 to bring down upon them showers of marked lumps of clayy. 33 which are marked by your Lord for the punishment of those guilty of excesses." 34 Then We brought forth such as were therein of the believers. 35 But We did not find therein save a (single) house of those who submitted (the Muslims). 36 We left therein evidence for those who fear the painful torment. 37 As (there was) in Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 but he turned his back, with his court, saying, 'A sorcerer, or a man possessed!' 39 Then We seized him and his army and cast them all into the sea: he himself [Pharaoh] was to blame. 40 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Ad, when We let loose upon them an ominous wind 41 It spared nothing that it reached, but blew it into broken spreads of rotten ruins. 42 And in Thamud, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time." 43 But in their pride they turn away from the commandment of their Lord and the thunderbolt struck them whilst they were looking; 44 Then they could not even stand (on their feet), nor could they help themselves. 45 (So had We destroyed) the people of Noah before them: They were surely a sinful people. 46
