The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 on a Great Day, 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 By no means! Verily the record of the virtuous shall be in 'Illiyun. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 A written record, 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
