The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 [And this will be] a reward for what they did [in life]. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
