The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and shade extended, 30 and flowing water, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the right. 38
