Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Indubitable! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 So regarding the Thamud, they were destroyed by a terrible scream. 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 Which He sent to assail them for seven nights and eight days running. You should have seen the people prostrate like the decayed trunks of date-palm trees. 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 In order to make it a warning for you, and that the ear retentive may preserve it. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed, not one secret of yours concealed. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 In a high garden 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 Eat and drink with benefit for that which ye sent on beforehand in days past. 24 But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, 25 and had not known my account. 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 My wealth has not availed me. 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 Then cast him to be burnt in Hell; 31 "Then fasten him with a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits!" 32 Verily he was wont not to believe in Allah, the Mighty. 33 Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 Today he has been left here friendless; 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 Which none but the wrongdoers eat. 37
