You can never attain virtue until you spend in Allah's cause the things you love; and Allah is Aware of whatever you spend. 92 ۞ All food was lawful for the Children of Israel, except whatever Israel had made unlawful for himself before the Torah was sent down. Say to them, "Bring the Torah then and read it, if you are truthful. 93 So henceforth whoever fabricates lies against Allah – it is they who are the unjust. 94 Say, "Allah has told the truth. So follow the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth; and he was not of the polytheists." 95 The first House ever to be built for people was that at Bakkah (Mecca) blessed and a guidance for the worlds. 96 full of clear messages. [It is] the place whereon Abraham once stood; and whoever enters it finds inner peace. Hence, pilgrimage unto the Temple is a duty owed to God by all people who are able to undertake it. And as for those who deny the truth - verily, God does not stand in need of anything in all the worlds. 97 SAY: "O followers of earlier revelation! Why do you refuse to acknowledge the truth of God's messages, when God is witness to all that you do?" 98 Say: "O ye People of the Book! Why obstruct ye those who believe, from the path of Allah, Seeking to make it crooked, while ye were yourselves witnesses (to Allah's Covenant)? but Allah is not unmindful of all that ye do." 99 O ye who believe! If ye listen to a faction among the People of the Book, they would (indeed) render you apostates after ye have believed! 100 But how can you disbelieve while it is you to whom the communications of Allah are recited, and among you is His Apostle? And whoever holds fast to Allah, he indeed is guided to the right path. 101
