The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise and warn, 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 And your garments purify! 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 May he be condemned! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and he scowled; 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
