The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 Arise and warn, 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 Pollution shun! 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 For when the Trump is sounded 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 And give him vast riches, 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then he looked, 21 frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 Burning the skins! 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
