The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 it is no merriment. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 Therefore give them some respite give them some time. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
