The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
