The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount 1 and by the Book in lines 2 On an open record. 3 by the much-visited House, 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 Most surely the punishment of your Lord will come to pass; 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 and the mountains will move with [an awesome] movement. 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 such as play at plunging, 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
