The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. 1 Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. 2 Surely We guided him upon the way whether he be thankful or unthankful. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, 5 a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. 6 They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; 7 They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, 8 [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 Therefor Allah hath warded off from them the evil of that day, and hath made them find brightness and joy; 11 and recompense them for their patience with a Garden, and robes of silk. 12 Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. 13 And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. 14 And brought round amongst them will be vessels of silver and also goblets of glass. 15 Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. 16 And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, 17 [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. 18 ۞ There wait on them immortal youths, whom, when thou seest, thou wouldst take for scattered pearls. 19 And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. 20 they will wear green garments of fine silk and rich brocade. They will be adorned with silver bracelets. And their Lord will give them a pure drink. 21 [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." 22
