The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 By the angels hastening, 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate. 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
