The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 Where then are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
