The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
