Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and goblets laid out, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
