The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
READ in the name of thy Sustainer, who has created 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
