He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And he fears, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 In honored books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 olives, dates, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
