Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
