The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 On a mighty Day. 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 No indeed! Verily the deeds of the wicked are in the Record locked up in the prison-house! 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 Yet none gives the lie to it except the transgressor immersed in sin; 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 You will recognise the freshness of serenity on their faces. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
