The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)

۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
