The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
CONSIDER the sun and its radiant brightness, 1 by the moon, which follows it, 2 and by the day as it displays the sun's glory, 3 And by the night as it conceals it (the sun); 4 Consider the sky and its wondrous make, 5 by the earth and Who spread it, 6 The soul and how it was integrated 7 And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 and failed has he who seduces it. 10 Thamood cried lies in their insolence 11 when the most wretched of them uprose, 12 then the Messenger of God said to them, 'The She-camel of God; let her drink!' 13 But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings). 14 for none [of them] had any fear of what might befall them. 15
God the Almighty always says the truth.
