Whatever hardship befalls you is the result of your own deeds. God pardons many of your sins. 30 Ye cannot escape in the earth, for beside Allah ye have no protecting friend nor any helper. 31 And among His signs are the ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas: 32 If He wills, He causes the wind to cease, then they would become motionless on the back (of the sea). Verily, in this are signs for everyone patient and grateful. 33 Or He could destroy them for what they earned; but He pardons much. 34 He knows all those who dispute His revelations. They will find no way to escape from (His torment). 35 Whatever ye are given (here) is (but) a convenience of this life: but that which is with Allah is better and more lasting: (it is) for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord: 36 And those who avoid heinous sins and indecencies, and when they are wroth forgive. 37 And those who respond to their Lord and keep up prayer, and their rule is to take counsel among themselves, and who spend out of what We have given them. 38 and who, when insolence visits them, do help themselves -- 39 The recompense for evil will be equivalent to the deed. He who pardons (the evil done to him) and reforms himself, will receive his reward from God. God certainly does not love the unjust. 40 And whosoever vindicateth himself after wrong done to him; these! against them there is no way of blame. 41 The way is only open against those who do wrong to the people, and are insolent in the earth wrongfully; there awaits them a painful chastisement. 42 And whoever is patient and forgives - indeed, that is of the matters [requiring] determination. 43
