Nay, by the Moon 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 About the guilty: 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will say: we have not been of those who prayed. 43 we fed not the needy, 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion! 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
