Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 well arranged goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
