Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Reality! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 And the angels will be on the sides thereof, and eight will uphold the Throne of thy Lord that day, above them. 17 On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. 18 Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 He is therefore in the desired serenity. 21 in a lofty garden, 22 its fruits are near. 23 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of what you did in days long passed' 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 “My wealth did not in the least benefit me.” 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 Then into Hellfire drive him. 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
