The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
