Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ I swear by yonder city 1 And thou art a freeman of this City;- 2 And the begetter and whom he begot. 3 Verily We have created man into toil and struggle. 4 Thinketh he, that none hath power over him? 5 He will say: 'I have destroyed a vast wealth' 6 Does he think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 and guided him on the two paths (of good and evil)? 10 But he hath not attempted the Ascent - 11 And what will make you know the path that is steep? 12 It is the freeing of a slave; 13 Or to feed in times of famine 14 To an orphan, having relationship, 15 or a needy man in misery; 16 Then he became one of those who believed, and recommended one another to perseverance and patience, and (also) recommended one another to pity and compassion. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right. 18 And those who denied Our signs, are the people of the left. 19 Over them shall be Fire closing round. 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
