And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Or do they profit you or cause you harm? 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 You and your fathers? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 “And make me among the inheritors of the Gardens of serenity.” 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 It shall be said to them, 'Where is that you were serving 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Then they shall be hurled therein, they and the seduced ones. 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
