Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 The Thamud and the Ad denied the (possibility of a) sudden calamity, calling it false. 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 So do you see any survivor among them? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He punished them with a strong punishment. 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 When a single blast is blown on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 So he shall be in a pleasing life 21 in a high Garden, 22 The fruit clusters of which are hanging down. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 Would it had been the end! 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 then in a chain of seventy cubits' length insert him! 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
