The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
